The Story So Far

The unforgiving format of this summer’s tournament ensures that there is no room for error as only the three group winners and the runner-up with the best record will qualify for the semi-finals. England have already lost ground in Group A as they were indebted to a penalty save from Jordan Pickford in a goalless draw with Sweden in their first match.

The result means England have now won just one of their past ten matches at European U21 Championship finals, scoring a meagre five goals in the process. Quite how they are 13/20 for the win on Monday is anyone’s guess.

Aidy Boothroyd has been piling the pressure on his team to win but it won’t be easy against Slovakia, who finished ahead of Netherlands to qualify for these finals before they opened the tournament with a deserved come-from-behind 2-1 victory against Poland on Friday.

Slovakia are not to be underestimated and they are arguably the value at 11/8 in the ‘double chance’ market (Bet 365).
Match Odds:

Goals Galore

Pavel Hapal’s side are an attack-minded outfit and they can take advantage of England, who looked vulnerable on the break against Sweden.

The Young Lions have to go in search of goals for the win and we are going to back over 2.5 goals at 10/11 (Sky Bet).

Over 2.5 has paid out in six of Slovakia’s past seven competitive games, with those matches producing 27 goals (average of 3.8 goals per game). Meanwhile, their eight games in qualifying involved a grand total of 27 goals at an average of 3.37 per game.

Adam Zrelak is the obvious threat for Slovakia as he weighed in with five goals during the qualifying campaign and he is a big-looking 12/1 to be first goalscorer (Paddy Power).
