Rob Cross Can Shock Michael Van Gerwen In Premier League Darts In Birmingham

We are heading into the business end of the 2018 Unibet Premier League Darts, and while Michael van Gerwen has safely qualified for the Finals Night at the 02 Arena on May 17 the trio of Michael Smith, Rob Cross and Gary Anderson all sit in the box seat in trying to make the last-four, and they can all secure their place on Thursday evening when the action takes centre stage in Birmingham.

Thursday 3rd May, 7.10pm – Peter Wright v Simon Whitlock

Two players playing for pride in the remaining two weeks are Peter Wright and Simon Whitlock, and that pair clash in the first match of the night, but neither will want to finish bottom of the remaining eight players, so it should be a well-contested match. Whitlock is one point ahead of Wright in the standings heading into Thursday’s clash, and it would be no surprise to see a tight contest, and the 4/1 with Paddy Power for a draw is the way to go.

Thursday 3rd May, 8.00pm – Rob Cross v Michael van Gerwen

Rob Cross has all-but qualified for the Finals Night, with only a host of shock results seeing him getting knocked out at this stage, but the world champion will want to keep up his decent form, but has the small matter of trying to down Michael van Gerwen in a mouth-watering second clash. van Gerwen has been the class act in this year’s event, but at 1/2 is a little short with the bookmakers, and Cross showed when beating the Dutchman in the World Championship semi-finals that he has the game to win, and at 9/2 with Betfair Sportsbook is far too big to pick up the two points.

Thursday 3rd May, 8.40pm – Daryl Gurney v Michael Smith

Daryl Gurney is realistically the only one that can scrape into the top-four, but the Northern Irishman faces a huge task as he sits three points behind fourth-placed Gary Anderson, but Gurney will have to beat Premier League surprise package Michael Smith in the third match of the night. Smith has been tremendous throughout the Premier League, and sits second in the table, and can continue that fine form with a narrow win over Gurney, and the 7/5 with Coral for a Smith win is the way to go.

Thursday 3rd May, 9.20pm – Gary Anderson v Raymond van Barneveld

Raymond van Barneveld’s poor legs difference is the reason in all likelihood that he doesn’t make it into the top-four, as he will need to win his remaining two matches, and also have a giant swing with Gary Anderson’s legs difference, and that pair clash in the final match of the night, and it’s hard to look away from an Anderson win. A win would secure the Flying Scotsman’s top-four spot, and he can beat van Barneveld 7-3, which is 7/1 with Betfair Sportsbook.
