South Korea v Germany Odds

Germany, who started Group F with a shock 1-0 defeat to Mexico before beating Sweden 2-1, may not be hitting the heights at the moment but they have won 15 of their past 17 competitive games (drawn one, lost one) since losing to France at Euro 2016.

Joachim Low’s men are 1/5 favourites to beat a woeful South Korean side, who have now lost six of their past eight internationals following a 1-0 defeat to Sweden and a 2-1 loss to Mexico at the World Cup.

Remarkably, Shin Tae-Yong’s men could still qualify but they need to record a big win against Germany and hope Mexico beat Sweden in the day’s other Group F match. It looks unlikely and an already difficult task is made harrder by the absence of Ki Sung-yueng through injury this week.

South Korea did beat Germany 3-1 when they last met in a friendly in 2004, although Germany had won both of their previous clashes and both were at World Cups – a 3-2 victory in 1994 and a 1-0 win in 2002.

The Germans should be too good and they can win an entertaining clash at the Kazan Arena. The German win and over 2.5 goals is 4/6 on – which could be worth a look as 11 of Germany’s last 12 wins have involved at least three goals – although we will take a punt on the Germany win combined with over 3.5 goals at 7/4 with Unibet.

There is the promise of goals as Germany have gone seven games without a clean sheet, although they are helped by the suspension of the hapless Jerome Boateng. Mats Hummels returns to the side and he can help his team record a valuable win.
