Van Gerwen Tipped For Another Premier League Darts Win Over Wright In Cardiff

Spread the love

There were some shock results during the opening week of Premier League Darts and Thursday sees the tournament move on to the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, where we are backing Michael van Gerwen to come out on top in a repeat of last year’s final against Peter Wright….

Thursday 8th February, 7.10pm – Michael Smith v Daryl Gurney

Michael Smith started his tournament with a hard-fought win over the injured Gary Anderson last week but this clash with Daryl Gurney is too tough to call, with the draw perhaps the pick of the bets at 18/5.

Thursday 8th February, 8.00am – Rob Cross v Simon Whitlock

We will definitely be having a bet on the clash between Rob Cross and Simon Whitlock though, with Cross very much worthy favourite at 6/10 (Betfair). Whitlock upset the odds to beat Mensur Suljovic last week but we can’t see him repeating the feat against the world champion, with Cross winning three of their past four head-to-head clashes. Cross lost to an inspired Michael van Gerwen last week but he can get back on track in Wales.

Thursday 9th February, 8.40pm – Michael van Gerwen v Peter Wright

As previously mentioned, this is a repeat of last year’s Premier League final and Michael van Gerwen can again get the better of Peter Wright. The Dutchman has had the wood over his Scottish opponent for some time now, winning each of the past three meetings, and we are backing van Gerwen to win, throw most 180s and the highest checkout (15/8 with Betfred).

Thursday 9th February, 9.20pm – Gerwyn Price v Gary Anderson

Gary Anderson has won his past three meetings with Gerwyn Price, including a 10-6 success at The Masters recently, but the Scot is struggling with back problems and he looked massively out of sorts against Smith last week.

Anderson’s fitness issues ensures Welshman, Price (13/5 with Betway), can make the most of home advantage at a raucous Motorpoint Arena.

Thursday 9th February, 10.000pm – Raymond van Barneveld v Mensur Suljovic

This final match should be a lot of fun as two of the more temperamental players clash in Cardiff and this is one to sit back and enjoy.
