NFL 2017 Week 10 Picks

Spread the love

It’s already week 10 of the NFL Season and with just seven weeks remaining of the regular season, priorities across the league are split. Whilst more than half of the 32 teams still harbour hopes of making the post-season, 2017 is over for a handful of teams. This week’s three bets focus on a trio of teams that find themselves in just that scenario, largely due to quarterback woes, all facing tricky games on the road.

Detroit Lions to cover -11 v Cleveland Browns

Detroit have struggled to find consistency this season, winning four and losing four, but three of those losses have come against New Orleans, Pittsbugh and Carolina, who boast a combined 18-7 record. They should face no problem advancing to a 5-4 record on Sunday against the 0-8 Cleveland Browns, who have shown no signs of finding their first win.

In the four games that the Lions have won, they have covered the spread on all four occasions, whilst the Browns are getting beat in convincing fashion, each and every week, with opposing teams covering the spread on seven of the last eight games.

Detroit are taken to win this one at ease.

Chicago Bears to cover -5.5. v Green Bay Packers

Since losing quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, to injury at Minnesota, three weeks ago, the Packers season has hit the buffers, going from 4-1 to 4-4 in that time. In those three loses, they have failed to score more than 17 points and the opponents have all covered the spread.

In contrast, the Chicago Bears have started to show signs of improvement in recent weeks, since making a change at QB. Turning to Mitch Trubisky, Chicago has won two of their last four under the rookie and covered the spread in three of those.

The Bears come in to this game benefitting from a bye week, unlike the Packers who are on a short week, having played on Monday night. Brett Hundley, who has stepped in for Rodgers, simply doesn’t look up to the grade and the Bears are taken to capitalise.

LA Rams to cover -11 v Houston Texans

The Houston Texans were hit with a sucker punch, last week, after their star rookie quarterback, Deshaun Watson, was ruled out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL. The first game without him saw them slip to one of the worst teams in the NFL, the Indianapolis Colts, last Sunday and the 14 points they scored illustrated how much they are likely to struggle on offense, going forward. That is in comparison to the previous five weeks, when they scored 38, 33, 34, 57 and 33 points!

The Rams have also been finding the endzone with frequency this season, they lead the league in scoring with an average of 32.9 points per game, covering the spread in their last four wins as they move to a 6-2 record. They should be way too good for the Texans on Sunday and have no problem covering -11.
