A whopping 32 countries will do battle in the 2018 Betway World Cup Of Darts in Frankfurt over the next few days, but unsurprisingly it will be the star names ready to propel into the limelight once again and it will be The Netherlands that head into the tournament as the ones to beat having landed the title 12 months ago, but England, Scotland and Australia will all fancy their chances of downing the Dutch in what should be a superb event.

Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld teamed up in last year’s World Cup to land the coveted prize, and if van Gerwen can emulate the performance he put up a couple of weeks ago to win the Premier League Darts crown at the O2 Arena then it’s hard to see the Dutch not retaining their crown, but with this being a team event then van Barneveld will also need to step up to the plate.

England have lifted this crown four times before, but will head into action with a new-look team, as world champion Rob Cross will make his international debut, as he partners Dave Chisnall, and if that duo can perform to the best of their ability then they could well run the Dutch close over the next few days in Germany.

There are a host of top nations featuring in the World Cup Of Darts Schedule and the deadly duo of Gary Anderson and Peter Wright will be flying the flag for Scotland, but Wright, in particular, has often struggled at the oche this season, so he will need to find his best performance to feature at the business end of the tournament.

Last year’s beaten finalists Wales and the likes of Australia and Belgium will be looking to show why they are seeded for the event, and all three of those nations on their day can produce the goods, but it’s tough to not see the trio of The Netherlands, England and Scotland dominating the lesser nations over the shorter matches, before blossoming when the games get longer in the latter stages of the event.

Top World Cup Of Darts Tips

A best-priced Evens favourites with Ladbrokes, The Netherlands are entitled to be warm orders for this event, and if van Gerwen can produce his best then it’s hard to seeing the likes of England (5/1 with Coral) and Scotland (11/4 with William Hill) getting close to them, so the sensible option is to back the Dutch for the outright win.

However, with so many nations lining up then there could be some value elsewhere. and Daryl Gurney could inspire Northern Ireland to bright things, but they are set to face the Dutch in the quarter-finals, if results go to plan, so look in the top-half of the draw for some potential value.

Australia will hope Simon Whitlock and Kyle Anderson can shine in Frankfurt, and that pair are 6/1 to reach the final with Betway, and they may have to down Scotland in the semi-finals, but with England and The Netherlands in the bottom half then the 6/1 about the former runners-up making the final looks a superb bet.
